There was a focus on seating for children with disabilities, assessment techniques and how to seat a child appropriately with postural needs. Symmetrical vs asymmetrical posture was considered for hips/legs along with correct support for leg positioning. The session also highlighted considerations when assessing a child with posterior pelvic tilt, deformities of the spine/scoliosis, muscle tone and spasticity.

This seminar was well received by attendees with several OT peers continuing discussions with Jo on the Etac R82 exhibition stand. Jo was able to highlight the effectiveness of R82 products in terms of her clinical presentation and gave details regarding Etac's free 'SAT' training courses for professionals. As part of Etac's ongoing commitment to education, SAT (Seating Assessment Training) allows paediatric Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists to further their knowledge of seating principles and problem solving solutions.
